A tiktoker from London flew to Ibiza to drink a beer for less money than it would cost a box in a supermarket in his country. The British tiktoker set himself a challenge for the Asian social network: take a flight to the island and have a pint to see the difference in price between the two.
The exorbitant price of products in general and beer in particular in London, made the young man set himself this ‘challenge’. Thus, in the video posted on TikTok, he goes to the supermarket and tries the price of a box of twelve bottles of Estrella Damm. 15 pounds, which is currently equivalent to 16.94 euros.
Inflation and the general rise in the CPI (Consumer Price Index) in many of the European countries, together with the devaluation of the pound, which plummeted in 2022 to historic lows, has led to a considerable rise in the price of some consumer goods in the UK.
The tiktoker then decides to search for flights to Ibiza and finds one for £10 (€11.30), so he decides to travel to the island.
The Briton continues the video at the London airport, mounted on the plane and sitting in a bar in the municipality of Sant Antoni, where consuming a pint, costs him about four euros. “Do you think the beer was worth the trip…?” he rhetorically asks his followers after having met the challenge.
Cheap flights between the UK and the island are, increasingly, a lure these forms of express tourism. The video ends with the young man kissing the bill and taking advantage of the sun on one of the beaches of Ibiza.
