The second year of Formentera Astronómica is repeated this year after the interest generated last year with a date with the stars that will take place between May 6th and 8th. This event, with the support of the Consell Tourism Department, is aimed at the general public who wish to discover part of this exciting world with their families, partners or friends. The department councilor, Alejandra Ferrer, highlighted “the privileged position of Formentera to observe the stars” and noted that, in addition, “it is organized just at the beginning of the season to attract visitors by offering a unique astronomical experience”.
The director of Formentera Astronómica, Alessia Comis, explained: “We have prepared a very complete program that will allow visitors to have a romantic getaway to enjoy this event or spend a few days with the family”. The director announced that this year the goal is to reach one hundred registrations.
Formentera Astronómica Programme
During the day the events are held in Sant Francesc, the talks in a hotel and workshops in the Plaza de la Constitució. Children’s workshops will once again be held, with free access for residents. The programme includes a drawing competition for children aged 0-14 entitled ‘The Star Tourist’. Drawings can be submitted until May 6th at concurso@formenteraastronomica.com.
The night-time observations will take place in various natural locations with little light pollution and will merge with gastronomy. There will be two themed dinners with stargazing, participants will be able to observe space through telescopes and there will be a night photography workshop.
