The viral sighting of a UFO in Ibiza that took the networks by storm just a few weeks ago has turned out to be a marketing stunt to promote [UNVRS], “the first hyperclub the “hyperclub”, which will open in the old Privilege de Sant Rafel nightclub in 2025, according to its promoters in a press release.
Behind “this new concept” there is Yann Pissenemowner, founder and CEO of The Night League and co-responsible with Grupo Empresas Matutes for Ushuaรฏa Ibiza and Hรฏ Ibiza, who assures that he contacted the American actor Will Smith to announce this nightlife business initiative on the island.
In the advertising video of the new nightclub, Will Smith is shown as the visible face of the campaign.
Last November, the Matutes Group won the litigation over the ownership of the former Privilege from its ex-partner Josรฉ Marรญa Etxรกniz. A company spokesman lamented that the facilities were in a state of “absolute abandonment”. The latest maintenance work was well in advance of its last running season, in 2019.
Last July, a video went viral on social networks in which several people claimed to have seen a UFO from the viewpoint of es Vedrร . The promotional video of [UNVRS] provided by its promoters shows how Smith solves the UFO enigma and goes to the new nightclub, currently under construction, where Pissenem is, who presents the new project under the iconic dome of the old Ku and Privilege while directing the trajectory of a drone.
The video, which has already surpassed 50 million views, used es Vedrร as a backdrop and unleashed all kinds of speculation with headlines in both national and international media “and even giving rise to an official investigation by local authorities,” the promoters emphasize in their communiquรฉ.
According to The Night League, Will Smith, who was on vacation on the island, “was quick to join the project after discovering the true purpose of the video”. The campaign “gained even more visibility when international stars such as David Guetta, Maya Jama and Alec Monopoly shared the video, increasing the buzz”.
“[UNVRS] will be the world’s first hyperclub, i.e. a club that mixes the essence of large concert venues and the best of discotheques,” the release said. “This campaign has really been something out of this world,” Yann Pissenem says for his part. “Revealing the name with this viral phenomenon is just the beginning. Seeing so many media, celebrities and influencers get involved in the story has been incredible, and having the opportunity to unveil the brand alongside such an iconic artist as Will Smith is a dream come true.”
“Now that the truth is out,” boasts Pissenem in the release, “we look forward to welcoming everyone to our new universe in 2025, with the launch of the world’s first hyperclub.
The budget for the refurbishment of the premises approved by the Consell de Ordenaciรณn Turรญstica Commission, and which began months ago, amounts to 8.2 million euros.
