No longer is the dance floor the central focus for nightlife so much as the tables, and the stars of the night are not the DJs but the chefs. Restrictions due to the health situation have forced lesire sector entrepreneurs to be imaginative and find alternatives to keep the doors open by pivoting their business model, at least for this summer.

Following the Govern’s decision to postpone the opening of the nightclubs, originally scheduled for 26th July, dance floors are making a comeback by being converted into restaurants with musical entertainment. Such is the case of Ushuaรฏa Ibiza which, after being closed for 21 months, reopens its doors this Saturday, 31st July with the Palmarama event which, according to a press release from the Palladium Group, will turn the nightclub’s open space “into a Mediterranean oasis”. Where the dance floor used to be, there will now be tables for diners at Japanese restaurant Minami, whose customers will be able to enjoy both the menu and the show created for the occasion.
Venues such as the Pachรก and Hรฏ clubs will remain closed until authorised by the Balearic govern
“It will be a safe event, complying with all health protocols”, explained The Night League, the company responsible for the events at Ushuaรฏa, who also informed Diario de Ibiza that, to date, they are not considering adapting the Hรฏ club space for initiatives of this kind. “This will only be at Ushuaรฏa and we will adapt to the situation day by day,” explains the spokesperson. These dinners will be accessible by prior reservation on the website and guests staying at the Ushuaรฏa Ibiza Beach Hotel will have an exclusive space inside the venue to enjoy the event.
