The opening of the first party in an Ibizan nightclub on Monday ended up with the arrest of 50 people for drug possession and 103 people questioned, in a joint operation of the Policía Local and the Guardia Civil. The nightclub DC10, in the town of Sant Josep, opened its doors on Monday at 5pm for a party that lasted until 5am.
During the 12 hours of partying, the Local Police received five calls about noise, four of them from the same Sant Jordi resident, according to Sant Josep Town Hall.
In terms of covid security, there was some “chaos during the early hours” due to long queues and crowds prior to entry because of the need for temperature and covid passport checks.
The permitted capacity was 100% outside and 75% inside. As far as the police could verify, the indoor capacity “did comply with the regulations”. The “general non-compliance with the use of masks” was noted, but it was judged that enforcing it could lead to public order problems and “the venue would be warned to take the necessary measures to enforce it from now on, given the willingness to collaborate that they maintained throughout the operation”.
