The best plans for the weekend in Ibiza and Formentera

The great battle returns. If anyone these days has found it hard to find tomatoes in the markets and supermarkets of Sant Antoni, do not panic. It is that the carthaginians and Romans are making provision of them for the great battle, which returns to the beach of s’Arenal this weekend, in the last throes of the program of festivities of Sant Bartomeu. The war to tomatazo limpio will come on Saturday (19.30 pm)but on Friday at the same time will begin the preparations and training of the children’s troops. So that they can learn.

Those of Sant Bartomeu are not the only festivities of this end of August. Those of San Agustรญ continue with some events after the big day with astronomy workshops (Friday, 9.30 p.m.), music festival (Friday, 7 p.m.) and concerts (Saturday from 9 p.m.). The festivities of Jesuson the other hand, will live this Saturday (18.30 hours) one of its most awaited moments: the treading of the grapes with which the neighbors of the locality prepare their wine every year. Anyone can participate in the activity, after washing their feet thoroughly, something that is controlled by the locals themselves. There will be food trucks full of food and drink all weekend from 6 p.m. and on Sunday at half past eight the opening speech of the festivities will be read.

Lovers of calmer plans have several options this weekend. Today (20 hours) will be inaugurated in the refectory of the old Town Hall of Ibiza the exhibition of photographs that Per Lund took on the island during the 50s. And on Friday and Saturday (10 p.m.) he will take the stage of the Comandancia the opera ‘Tosca’. On Friday, just a few meters away, in the Reina Sofia Park (9 p.m.), the Argentine singer will tell, with her voice, her ‘Idyll with Havana’.

Those who are more of traditions have no excuse to stay on the couch. On Sunday at seven o’clock in the evening the colla des Vedrร  celebrates xacota in the pou des Rafals.
