Incident in Ibiza: refuses to pay the cab driver’s fee and snatches his cell phone and money

After a struggle with the agents, the man was apprehended in Ibiza

Agents of the Santa Eulària Local Police detained a man identified as C.E.A.P. early last Monday on suspicion of robbery with force, disobedience, and resistance to authority. According to a news release from the City Council, the individual took some cell phones and money from a cab driver who refused to pay the fare and actively opposed his arrest.

The service began about 2.50 a.m. on Monday, when a cab driver reported a heated argument between a colleague and his client at the traffic circle entrance to the Can Lluis neighborhood in Jesus, next to Ibiza. When the driver arrived at the scene, he claimed that a customer had refused to pay him, which had resulted in a conflict, after which the passenger fled, carrying some cell phones and some bags containing coins.

After getting the suspect’s description, the agents went to the location where the man had left and soon discovered C.E.A.P. attempting to enter a house. When he was pulled over, he bolted, tossing some cell phones into the street. After a brief chase, the agents apprehended the suspect, who had to be handcuffed due to his combative demeanor toward the agents. During a cursory search, a few bags containing coins were discovered in his hands, which the individual admitted were the cab driver’s property.
