After a day, Ibiza and Formentera have nearly 1,200 covid infections, with 152 positives

Can Misses reminds us that visits to patients in the hospital with covid are not permitted

After nearly four months, Ibiza and Formentera are back in contact with the 1,200 active covid infections. The virus infected a total of 1,190 people in the Pitiusas yesterday. Officially, because it is probable that some individuals who have tested positive for antigens have not informed health of their condition.

This result is about the same as that recorded on September 1st (1,192), after a day in which the number of cases found by the Hospital Can Misses’ Microbiology Laboratory (152) was substantially higher than the number of discharges given by doctors in the same 24 hours: only 8. 147 of the new cases are associated with Ibiza, with the remaining five with Formentera. According to the pandemic’s historical statistics, the number of active infections climbed by 13.8% from one day to the next and is now 72.2% greater than a week ago, when 691 were registered.

Yesterday, the total number of covid positives discovered in the Balearic Islands reached 1,162 for the first time in nearly two years. Nothing to do with the Pitiusas situation, where the figure for the last day is significantly below the maximum number of confirmed infections in 24 hours, 414, reported on January 20. The highest number of positives detected in one day on Formentera occurred on January 26, when 27 were detected.

The number of people infected with the virus who requiring hospitalization increased somewhat yesterday, according to one source. There are currently 19 hospitalized patients, one more than on Tuesday. The increase is concentrated among those in critical care units, which now number four, one more than the previous day. There are 18 patients admitted to Can Misses Hospital, 15 on the ward and three in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). To them must be included the affected person at the Policlnica Nuestra Seora del Rosario’s critical care unit.
