Covid incidents in Ibiza almost double those of the Balearic Islands as a whole

Four municipalities in Ibiza exceed 1,000 infections per one hundred thousand inhabitants per 14 days

The incidences being registered at the moment in Ibiza are almost double the average for the Balearic Islands, according to the latest pandemic data update from the Balearic Ministry of Health. The island accounts for 1,405.5 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants over fourteen days while the Comunitat average stands at 856.1. There is a greater difference in the seven-day indicator: 722.5 in Ibiza and 386.6 for the islands as a whole.

Just last week, the Consell de Ibiza president, Vicent Marรญ, called for the calculation of the incidence rate to be done not on the basis of the population census, but on the basis of the “real” population on the island at the moment, which could be twice as many. The president of the Consell de Formentera, Alejandra Ferrer, also made the same request. Formentera is the island with the lowest indicator in the Comunitat over fourteen days, but the second highest (after Ibiza) at seven days. It should be remembered, however, that as it has such a small population, the incidence can vary greatly with just one case more or less.
