Guardia Civil investigate: Dead body found inside a rented sailing boat

The Guardia Civil's initial investigations indicate that the victim found in a sailing boat, died of natural causes.

The Guardia Civil is investigating the death of a man whose body was found early this morning in a sailboat moored in the Moll Vell on Palma. The body of the victim, a crew member of a rented boat, was lying in the bathtub of the boat and in principle no evidence criminal activity has been found. The investigators are taking statements from the clients of the boat while awaiting the results of the autopsy.

Guardia Civil Investigate

The events occurred on a sailboat called Leia, which was located in the Moll Vell on Palma. After being alerted of the discovery, agents from the Policía Nacional, the Port Police and the Guardia Civil, who finally took over the investigation of the case, arrived at the scene. The death has been reported to the court on duty and a forensic doctor has moved to the boat to examine the body.

The first evidence collected by investigators suggest that the victim died of natural causes. The body has been transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Palma, where the autopsy is scheduled to be performed in the coming hours. The people who had rented the boat have been transferred to the premises of the armed institute to take their statements.
