Young people in the Balearic Islands eligible for a free digital subscription to Diario de Ibiza and free cinema tickets

The Associació de Periodistes de les Illes Balears presents an initiative to promote the reading of newspapers among young people between 16 and 30 years of age

APIB initiative

Diario de Ibiza joins the APIB initiative with a special offer. In addition to the access complete access to the web and the digital copy, the package includes the paper newspaper on weekends, free movie tickets and other benefits from the Subscriber Club.

“It’s a way to encourage young people to be informed, to have a reflective and critical spirit, to get them involved in participating in society. According to data from the Booksellers Guild and EGM which were presented during the press conference, book reading has experienced a strong growth, from 64,8%the increase was particularly sharp in the 14 to 24 yearswhile the printed press is losing ground and Internet consumption is advancing, which has gone from 30% in 2008 to 86% in 2022. With this initiative, the aim is to attract young people to reading information and “help fight fake news”according to Durán and Sánchez.
