Two young men arrested in Barcelona for a sexual assault in Ibiza

The victim and the assailants are reportedly co-workers at a luxury hotel and were together on the island on a leisure trip with other friends

The Mossos d’Esquadra arrested last Friday two men accused of raping a co-worker this summer while they were on holiday together in Ibiza. As reported by the digital media El Caso and confirmed by sources of the investigation to the ACN agency, the woman reported the incident at the police station in l’Hospitalet de Llobregat on Friday. As they were co-workers, the identification and location was very quick, as she provided their names, so that the agents were able to arrest the alleged perpetrators the same day at the hotel where they work, in Barcelona. They are charged with a crime of sexual assault with penetration.

According to the media outlet, the young woman reported that the two men, who were on vacation with her and a group of people, co-workers in the luxury hotel Sofia in Barcelonain August, she was sexually assaulted on the island. After digesting the facts and informing herself, she decided to file the complaint once back in the Catalan capital. It seems, according to El Caso, that the victim’s account fits and she also has witnesses to the facts.

Released with charges

The men were questioned over the weekend at the police station in Las Corts and were taken to court. The 1st Court of Investigation of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, on duty, released them with charges, but ordered a restraining order for the two detainees.

For its part, the hotel where the victim and the alleged assailants, who are outsourced, work, has issued a statement explaining that it “is gathering information about the very serious incident that allegedly took place in Ibiza. We take these types of allegations with the utmost seriousness and stand ready to lend its full support to the police in their investigation.” “Caring is at the heart of everything we doand we do not tolerate any form of abuse of any of our colleagues under any circumstances,” the note reads.
