Those interested can now consult the rules and the registration form for the fourth edition of MARE, the Adiovisual Contest for the Conservation of the Balearic Sea.
The deadline to participate will be open between August 1 and September 15. Each contestant may submit a maximum of 20 digital photographs that have to capture the beauty and richness of life and underwater landscapes surrounding the Balearic archipelago and also the human relationship with the sea. MARE has established three participation profiles: Amateur, Expert and Youth, for children under 16 years old.
This year the contest inaugurates a new categoryaccessible to all participants, MARE Populariswhose winner will be chosen by popular decision through the votes of the public on the contest’s website. The voting period will begin on September 15 and will end on October 31.
MARE will distribute a total of 10,000 euros divided into 24 prizesthe prizes will consist of a cash prize for adults and underwater equipment for young people.
The jury will award six honorable mentions divided into two themes, one of which is a novelty, the dedicated to the elasmobranchs (sharks and rays), created to give them visibility and to know them better. The other will focus on Marine Protected Areas.
The contest organizers remind that the selected images will be included in the MARE website and may be part of a traveling exhibition that will tour the Balearic Islands in 2024.
