The Consell de Formentera has suspended from employment and salary as a precautionary measure to the institution’s official convicted of gender-based violence against his subordinatewith whom he had been romantically involved.

From the institution, they recall that the protocol was activated immediately when the victim informed them of the facts and that, after verifying that they transcended the workplace, they advised the worker to file a complaint with the Civil Guard, where she went on February 24. The following day, her aggressor was arrested.

Following the procedure established for these cases, the Consell opened disciplinary proceedings against the official and, once it was already possible to have an instructor of the file, on Friday, the president of Formentera, Ana Juan, signed the decree of suspension of employment and salary of the condemned official, who until that day and while the file was not resolved, teleworked as stipulated by the Consell so that he would not approach his victim.

The aggressor was sentenced to eight months in prison for a crime of gender violence against his subordinate and to eight months of distance from the victim. Among the evidence provided by the victim were intimidating and threatening audios and even handwritten messages in the same tone, which were decisive in the trial.
