The demand to opt to manage the urban vegetable gardens in the municipal property of Can Tomeu has forced the Ibiza City Council to hold a lottery in January to award its concession to residents of the municipality or civic associations. At the moment, Vila has received a total of 213 applications, while there are 48 available plots, although the deadline to apply is still open until next Monday.

Urban vegetable gardens highly sought after

In principle, the deadline for requesting these plots was last October but, due to an error in its processing, the City Council had to redo the administrative process for its final allocation.

The municipal property of Can Tomeu, in the neighborhood of Ca n’Escandell, has a surface area of 3.806 square meters that will be used for public urban vegetable gardens. The individual plots are between 30 and 50 meters each. In addition, another space of 345 square meters will be prepared to carry out agricultural workshops.
