The Consell de Formentera has removed four small boats that reached the coast of Formentera and were in areas of difficult access, s’Estufador and s’Espalmador, as reported by the island institution in a note.

Despite the fact that the Consell is not the competent entity in the cleaning of these places, the efforts made “from the Department of Environment have allowed to articulate the necessary solution to respond to the social demand to remove these elements of the coast of the island and to avoid the effects that may cause the abandonment of the boats,” explained from the insular institution.

External company

The Consell has contracted an external specialized company to remove the remains of the boats and different residues that were in these areas.

From the area of ses Pesqueres Altes three boats were removed, an engine, which was underwater 20 meters from the coast, carafes and clothes thrown on the rocks. The remains were taken to es Cupinà, where they were removed by trucks of the Consell.

From the east coast of s’Espalmador a boat and demijohns were removed from the shore. The team consisted of six professional divers, an auxiliary boat and a platform to remove the material.

Usually, the Consell collaborates with the removal of pateras in areas of easy access that are then sent for destruction.
