Jet2 flight LS789 from Edinburgh and bound for Ibiza had to divert and land at Bristol Airport this Tuesday morning following reports of an incident on board. The crew on board the flight expressed concern about a passenger explaining to the control tower that required medical attention.
Avon and Somerset police confirmed that officers subsequently arrested another passenger on suspicion of a sex offense, reports the Daily Record.
After landing in Bristol, Jet2 changed planes and crew to take the other passengers to Ibiza, with the consequent delay. As published in the newspaper, a spokesman for the company explained that the plane was diverted “for safety reasons”.
After landing the police arrested and took into custody a male passenger on that Jet2 flight on suspicion that he had committed a “sexual offense,” according to the company itself.
The passenger who received medical attention (it is not specified whether he was male or female) was reportedly the victim of the abuse.
Jet2 assures that the incident is currently under investigation.
