The investigation into the case of the disappearance of rugby player Levi Davis has two new hypotheses. The 24-year-old rugby player, who disappeared in Barcelona three months ago after getting off a ferry arriving from Ibiza, may have drowned after being chased by criminals over a £100,000 debt, as reported this morning by the British newspaper The Sun.

Rugby players phone and credit cards unused

The former professional rugby player was last seen leaving an Irish pub in Barcelona on October 29th. Police found his passport in the port area of the city. According to The Sun, his family hired a private investigator, who found that his bank card and phone had not been used since he disappeared. However, the British media highlights that Levi could have large debts with the Somali mafia “because his lifestyle featured heavy partying and was out of control”. The Sun details that Davis owed about 115,000 euros.

The television program Good Morning Britain has explained that private detective Gavin Burrows feared that the sportsman had drowned in the port of Barcelona. The Sun details that a search was carried out, but no body was found in the Barcelona harbor area.

Levi Davis’ mother, Julie, has gone on Good Morning Britain and broke down as she recalled the last hug her son gave her before going to Spain. Julie tells the program that just before she left, her son told her to give him a hug just in case it was his last one. In the video posted by GMB on its social networks, Julie tells how she has no hope of ever seeing her son alive again.
