Most of the rentals available from September on Ibiza are temporary and for teachers

Almost all of the rental properties on Ibiza that are advertised on online platforms specify that they are only rented to people who are on the island for a limited period of time, not including the peak months of the season.

There are many who have been waiting for months for September to come to get an annual rental at a reasonable price on Ibiza. However, something that would seem logical, as many seasonal workers are leaving and the properties are empty, is becoming a headache. In online rental platforms, such as Idealista or Fotocasa, there is a requirement that is found in 80% of the ads: ‘for rent for teachers’ season’.

Wide range of rentals for teachers

For teachers the rental offering is wide-ranging. Among the ads is a one-bedroom apartment for 650 euros per month in Cala de Bou, a semi-detached house in Cala Tarida for the same price and a studio in Sant Antoni that specifies that in the month of August the owners inhabit it.

For fifty euros more, they offer an apartment in the Villa de Portmany that “is not possible to rent all year round”, so they ask to refrain if the requirement of being a teacher or temporary worker “with documentation that proves it” is not met. For the same amount a small studio of 35 square meters is rented in Sant Antoni, also for “the school season”.

The price continues to rise and for 800 euros per month a studio in Santa Eulària is available exclusively for “teachers and civil servants”.

Also in Cala de Bou, an apartment is rented for this price from September to June, as well as in Sant Antoni, where they offer a temporary apartment in which to enter you have to pay 2,400 euros and, in addition, “150 euros are charged for the final cleaning that will be returned if the apartment is returned in the same condition in which it is delivered”.

“From outside the island”

For 850 euros an apartment is advertised in Sant Carles until May which, moreover, can not be visited because it is now rented. “It is furnished and no furniture is to be removed and no changes are to be made to the decoration,” explains the advertiser. And it is “ideal for a teacher who is from outside the island.”
