Policía Nacional: Squatter caught attempting to break down the door of a house on Ibiza with two axes

The owner of the house, who lives in Palma, requested police intervention by the Policía Nacional after being alerted by neighbors.

The Policía Nacional of Ibiza arrested a 57 year old Spanish man on Tuesday after an alleged crime of breaking and entering and damage in a house on Ibiza. The man was trying to occupy a house by breaking down the door using two axes, according to a note from the Policía Nacional.

“Around 2pm on Tuesday, a call was received through the CIMACC 091 room in which a person requested the intervention of a police patrol because a man was trying to break down the door of a house in a residential area of Ibiza with an axe in his hand,” explains the police statement. Apparently, the owner of the house, who lives in Palma, requested the police intervention after being alerted by a neighbor who was witnessing the events.

According to the note, a police patrol was present and the officers found that the door had been hit with a blunt and sharp object, so they called to check if there was someone inside the house.

“Seconds later a man appeared telling an incongruous story to justify forcing the door and occupying the house. He said that it corresponded to him because of an inheritance received more than ten years ago, but he did not provide any document or any evidence to prove what he said”, explains the note.

The agents contacted the owner of the house, who indicated that this was his second home and that he normally resided in Palma. The neighbors also corroborated his version.

Policía Nacional make arrest

Therefore, according to the statement, the agents arrested the man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of damage and breaking and entering, took away the two axes and secured the house. Once the police report was completed, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the courts, concluded the note from the Policía Nacional.
