Policía Local evict campers from Natural Park

After the request by the Policía Local, only three motorhomes remain and their occupants have been reported to the Guardia Civil

The camp of seasonal workers located in the old deposits of Salinera Española, in the ses Salines Natural Park that had generated alarm because it is a protected area, is now history. Yesterday, at 9 o’clock in the morning, members of the Sant Josep Policía Local accompanied by agents from Environment and a Salinera worker, came to the site to warn the campers that they should leave and that they were going to cut the access to the site and close the entrance with a chain and a padlock.

After the request, most of the campers decided to collect their things and leave. At half past nine in the morning, of the twenty motorhomes, vans and cars, practically all of them had already left the site. The Policía Local asked the campers for their ID cards and took photographs of the license plates of the vehicles, but neither the police nor the environmental agents took any action.

The Policía Local gave warning

The eviction was carried out without incident. Most of the campers were already prepared to leave, since during the previous two days the Policía Local officers had warned them that access to the area would be cut off yesterday.

As of today, only three motorhomes remain inside the site. The identity of the owner of one of them is unknown as it is empty. In the second one lives a person, and in the other motorhome lives a couple who, as explained to Diario de Ibiza, has no intention of moving.

Reported by Salinera

The City Council of Sant Josep informed that the three people who have decided to stay on the plot have been reported by Salinera Española before the Guardia Civil: “Despite the fact that it is a Natural Park, the place is private property, and it is Salinera who must file the complaint,” explained the Councilor for the Environment, Monica Fernández, who was pleased by the collaboration of most of the campers, who left the place without resistance: “I understand their problems and I appeal to their responsibility so that, when they camp, they do things right. But it is clear that the Natural Park is not a place to do it“.
