The Guardia Civil has rescued the eleven passengers of a speedboat that ran aground on the islet of s’Illa Negra Petita, located next to es Penjats, just a few metres from s’Espalmador, in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Once the warning was received, the Guardia Civil mobilized its GEAS unit, which upon arrival with its own boat, “observed the speedboat on top of the islet and that all occupants were well”. In fact, and in spite of its seriousness, the nautical incident did not cause any injuries.
“The skipper stated that they were heading for the port of Ibiza and that, in an absent-mindedness, collided with the islet”. As a consequence of the violent collision, a “major waterway” in the case of the vessel.
The GEAS proceeded to evacuate the eleven passengers from the boat and transferred them to the Salvamento Marítimo vessel that came to the area to provide their assistance, and to take them to the port of Ibiza.
