Paco Jémez, UD Ibiza: “I have no doubt that we will have a chance to win”

The UD Ibiza coach says that "the fight to win" in Almería "is going to be about whoever controls the ball".

Paco Jémez, UD Ibiza’s coach, assured this Thursday, before the departure for today’s match against Almería, that “personality is always important wherever you go to play,” while pointing out: “There are places where it is an indispensable condition to have it because if you don’t, you have nothing to do against rivals like Almería, which is one of the best in the category.  And it’s clear that the personality of my team needs to emerge once more.”

In terms of the opponent, the coach of the UD Ibiza stated that “the fight to win the match will be in whoever has the ball.”

“Almería is a team that likes the ball, and we want the ball as well.  We must begin by winning that fight in order to win the match. And winning that struggle against Almería is difficult,” said the Canary Islands coach, adding, “You have to have the attitude to press them and seek to have the ball.” Then there’s the personality and tranquilly to be able to have the ball at the right times. If we can do that, we will have a chance to win. I have no doubts, none at all.”

In this regard, the coach of the celestial squad said clearly what the minimums are that his team must adhere to when playing.

“Personality needs to be a tonic in and of itself.  I already know this team knows how to play anywhere and that it is capable of doing so. And I’m going to have to push them to do it. If we want to win in Almería, we must demonstrate that we have more soccer, more effectiveness, and more stuff than Almería. And among them is our personality,” Paco Jémez emphasised, adding, “We have to make the game difficult for them, take them to places they don’t want to be, and try to take advantage of the fact that they are on a bad run.”

“Almería is still a fantastic team; they’re like a sleeping lion.” Lions spend a lot of time sleeping. They sleep for over three-quarters of the day. However, when they awaken, they are still a lion. We’re going to try to wake them up next week,” Paco Jémez remarked.
