Guerrero considers it “outrageous” that the PTI now legalizes the basement in Cathy Guetta’s villa on Ibiza

The mayor of Sant Josep criticizes allowances being made to the weathly such as Cathy Guetta and the "inconsistencies" from the PP in stopping rural areas being used for tourist accomodation while also allowing more land divisions.

The mayor of Sant Josep, Angel Luis Guerrero, from the PSOE, harshly criticizes some of the new features that the government of the Consell de Ibiza, formed by PP and Ciudadanos, have included in the amendment of the Insular Territorial Plan (PTI). In particular, he has expressed his discontent with that which allows dressing rooms, gymnasiums, game rooms and cinema rooms among others, to be created in basements and crawl spaces which do not count in the maximum volume of 900 cubic meters permitted in the dwelling as a whole.

“I don’t see the need for a specific modification, but perhaps a revision of the PTI because it is now outdated. But to approve a modification for things like legalizing the basement of Cathy Guetta’s villa is outrageous” said Guerrero, whose first assessments of the content of the changes in the territorial regulations are based on the text presented by the Consell, not the exact content, the fine print, of the regulatory text that must still be approved initially by the plenary of the island institution.

“Instead of going up, now we are going to excavate to make more basements. It’s doing a favor for someone,” says the mayor, while pointing out that he does not want to focus attention only on the case of Cathy Guetta, the ex-partner of the famous dj David Guetta and her Villa Titanium.

“There are many houses where this happens. It seems to me a tailor-made suit for this or other wealthy people who can afford these luxuries in basements and who were doing it illegally. I can’t understand it,” he says.
