Music in Ibiza: Mediterranean Jazz with Madera Viva Trio at es Caló de s’Oli

The band from Barcelona presents its album 'Senderos' this Saturday at 8.30 p.m

The Caló de s’Oli Auditori in Cala de Bou is hosting a jazz concert this Saturday from 8:30 pm with Madera Viva Trío, a band from Barcelona made up of three musicians who have performed alongside artists of the stature of Silvia Pérez Cruz, Judit Neddermann, Juan Perro, Paquito d’Rivera and Marco Mezquida, among others. They are Vicenç Solsona (vocals and guitar), Pau Lligadas (vocals and double bass) and Ramón Ángel Rey (drums), who are also part of the teaching staff of the Escuela Superior de Estudios Musicales de Barcelona (ESEM, Taller de Músics).

Madera Viva is a vocal jazz trio of Mediterranean inspirationwith their own compositions and lyrics in Spanish and Catalan, which often opens up to improvisation and genres such as Latin music, Mediterranean folk and even pop.

New album

They present their new album, ‘Senderos’, published by the record label Microscopi, in which love and the vital reflections of the three members of the band are present.

The origin of the group takes place in 2017, when the double bass player Pau Lligadas released his first album leading a jazz trio, in which he was already accompanied by Vicenç Solsona and Jorge Rossy. He baptized it Madera Viva and already offered a selection of very personal themes, covering in jazz key some songs by Bebo Valdés, such as the mythical bolero ‘Cuando vuelva a tu lado’, as well as ‘La leyenda del tiempo’ by Camarón de la Isla and even a theme by Alejandro Sanz. To present the album and tour, he replaced the presence of Jorge Rossy with that of Ramón Ángel Rey and that is how the trio began to roll on the stages, adopting the name of the album.
