It is estimated that more than 1.5 million people have ever been to the party Manumission which was held at Ku and Privilege nightclub for a few years (from 1996 to 2007), which was the golden age of this event, and then moved to other venues but without the success it had previously enjoyed.
The fame that Manumission acquired was due to the transgressive spirit that was palpable well into the 1990s. At the party, guests were “free to do whatever they wanted”. Live sex shows took place at dawn.
Iconic 90s party returns
Now, Pikes Ibiza has just announced the return of this party with Andy Manumission (Andy McKay, owner of Pike’s) which will take place on Mondays throughout the summer. Andy Manumission & Pike’s Ibiza presents ‘Mondays‘, which will take place weekly from April 29 to August 19 and which aims to recover that spirit of freedom in which the famous djs were not more important than the public.
According to the magazine DJ Mag “the names of the djs will remain unannounced, the schedules will not be clear and, if guests record with their cell phones, a curtain will be drawn around the DJ booth, encouraging clubbers to fully immerse themselves in the experience. The organizers encourage a no-photography policy on the dance floor, and guests will receive name tags at the door to encourage social interaction.”
The announcement of Manumission’s return was also made on Pike’s social media, which reads, “For over three decades, Mondays in Ibiza have been revered as the best day of the week to relax, live in the moment and let go. Celebrating rather than dreading the first day of the week is a cultural quirk unique to the white island, where partygoers and island residents alike come together to embrace the freedom of being in a Balearic paradise while dancing to the sounds of the world’s best djs.”
