Eivissa will once again have a 112m2 stand at the tourism fair in London, the World Travel Market (WTM), which has finally returned to as it was before the health crisis began. In 2020 it was cancelled and in 2021 there were still numerous restrictions. The island is arriving with a campaign entitled “Discover our way of life” and with the intention of “consolidating the growth of the UK at the beginning and end of the season,” said yesterday the president of the Consell, Vicent Marí, at a press conference held at the island’s headquarters.

“It is important to focus – Marí agrees – on the peaks of the season”. The goal is not to open on May 1st, but that “April is already an important month”. For this, he says, it is crucial that there is an important sports, gastronomic and cultural offer that attracts tourists to make it viable to open more hotels in advance.

The Ibizan delegation comes “with great enthusiasm” after a season in which “normality has been recovered”, that is, the pre-pandemic data of 2019, although up to September received almost 100,000 tourists less than that season. In 2019 they accounted for 23.6% of the total number of travelers arriving on Eivissa, but in 2022 they have represented 21.7% of the total. “It has been a good year in terms of figures, better than expected. There has been a very rapid recovery,” according to Marí, who believes that this fact demonstrates “the capacity” of the island as a destination and brand.

This year’s campaign at the WTM will focus on family tourism, which is “traditionally very loyal” to Eivissa, as well as sports and gastronomy, with which it wants to strengthen the ends of the season. Thus, in addition to the eight sporting events declared of insular interest, Vicent Marí has highlighted that the island will host the Multisport World Cup. “We want the average stay of our visitors to be long, and we have detected that these segments are the ones who commit to visiting the island for one or two weeks. That is why we are focusing our campaign on them,” says the president.
