The Ibiza City Council will limit the entry of vehicles without an environmental badge to the city center to establish a Low Emission Zone (ZBE), reported Tuesday the municipal administration in a note.
The ZBE will cover an area of 167 hectares, delimited by the E10 and the park-and-ride lots, which will affect 60% of the population.
Exceptions for resident, transport, sanitary and emergency vehicles
The Councilor for Mobility, Aitor Morrás, explained that this delimitation will have ‘exceptions’ for residents and will not restrict the entry of goods transport, sanitary and emergency vehicles and municipal service vehicles.
However, Morrás has emphasized that in order to implement the ZBE, ‘first, it is essential that the island has an efficient public transport service’.
The council recalled that the implementation of the ZBE is mandatory in cities with more than 50.000 inhabitants and island territories in accordance with Law 7/2021, of 20 May, on climate change and energy transition.
