Laia Santanach, the highlight of the Nit del Patrimoni in Ibiza

The Group of World Heritage Cities celebrates this Saturday the sixth edition and in Vila there are several activities planned in heritage sites and guided visits to the exhibition of Joana Vasconcelos in the MACE

Dance, art and heritage spaces are the stars of the programme of activities in the city of Ibiza for the celebration of the Nit del Patrimoni (Heritage Night), which celebrates its sixth edition this Saturday (16th September). The most important event this year is the performance by dancer Laia Santanach, who on the same day, a few hours earlier, will give the dance workshop ‘Physical Tools’ at the Conservatori Professional de Música i Dansa d’Eivissa i Formentera ‘Catalina Bufí’.

This session is aimed at students of Professional Dance Education and will take place between 10 am and 1 pm. On the other hand, from September 20 begins a new registration period for access to music and dance studies.

The well-known dancer, choreographer and pedagogue, who lives in Barcelona, currently directs the project of the same name (Laia Santanach Company). Her creations have toured different countries (Spain, France, Holland and Italy) and have received the support of institutions such as the Ballet National de Marseille, PimOff-Milan, the Mercat de les Flors and Teatros del Canal, among others. In addition, he has accumulated important awards and has collaborated with a long list of companies.

Santanach currently teaches at the dance and creation classroom of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. In 2016 he created the Festival Menorca en Dansa and continues to co-direct it.

As for his company’s show, which is site specific (designed for a specific location) and is titled ‘Tradere‘, will take place in the evening. It is scheduled to begin at 9 pm in the courtyard of the Cloister of the Town Hall of Ibiza. It has a duration of 48 minutes and admission is free until full capacity.

Guided tours at the MACE

In addition, from 8 to 11 p.m. there will be an open house at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Ibiza (MACE) and the Puget Museumas indicated in the program provided by the Consistory. In this same time slot it will also be possible to visit the Church of Santo Domingo and the Cathedral of Dalt Vila. At the MACE guided tours will be offered at 8.30 pm and 10 pm for the temporary exhibition ‘Valkyre Crown’, by Joana Vasconcelos, by its director, Elena Ruiz Sastre.

Dance workshop

Laia Santanach’s session at the conservatory will start at 10 a.m

The workshop costs 20 euros per attendee and a total of 20 places are offered. It is aimed at students of Professional Dance Studies and will serve to “open mouth” for this new course.
