When will the heat wave affect Ibiza and Formentera?

The heat will be particularly noticeable in the municipalities of Sant Antoni and Sant Joan.

The heat will be especially noticeable in the municipalities of Sant Antoni and Sant Joan.

Ibiza and Formentera will be this Thursday on yellow alert for temperatures up to 37 degrees, according to forecasts of the Aemet.

The heat will be especially noticeable in the municipalities of Sant Antoni and Sant Joan. The time slot in which the alert will remain active will be from 13 hours to 19 hours.

The territorial delegate of the Aemet in the Balearic Islands, María José Guerrero explained that for this Wednesday maximum temperatures are expected to be around 34 and 35 degrees. Thus, the Islands are “slightly outside” of the intense warm air mass that is affecting the Peninsula.

However, from this Thursday the heat wave will approach the archipelago.

For Friday, a drop in temperatures is expected in the north of the Balearic archipelago because of the entry of north wind, which will result in a drop in temperatures in areas where the yellow warning will be decreed this Thursday.

On the other hand, for this weekend maximum temperatures of between 32 and 35 degrees and minimum temperatures ranging between 19 and 24 degrees are expected, approximately in the Balearic Islands.

From this Wednesday tropical and torrid nights may occur and, during the weekend, tropical nights. Thus, Guerrero has indicated that the Balearic Islands “has been saved from the heat wave so intense that has affected the Peninsula” and that for this week “summer temperatures” are expected in the Islands.

Minimum temperatures

Ibiza has registered this Wednesday minimum temperatures of 18 degrees in Sant Joan. In Sant Antoni have been recorded 20 degrees; 21 degrees, in Ibiza; and 22 degrees at the airport of Ibiza and Formentera.

In addition, Aemet has decreed for this Wednesday the extreme or very high level of fire risk in Ibiza.
