The Guardia Civil believes the paternal grandmother was in charge of the kidnapping of the baby from an Ibizan mother

The Civil Guard assures that the family clan, formed by the father, grandfather and grandmother of the child, elaborated a plan for the kidnapping and concealment of the child.

The kidnapping of the 13 months old baby in the Monasterio de Piedra from a mother from Ibiza, in the Zaragoza town of Nuévalos, was not improvised and required very detailed planning. At the head was the last person arrested by the Guardia Civil, as reported by El Periódico de Aragón and Diario de Ibiza (both from Prensa Ibérica): the paternal grandmother.

She is considered to be the mastermind of the plan in which a lawyer played a fundamental role. This lawyer, who is not charged, would have advised them at all times. The minor is with his mother, from Ibiza, while the father and grandfather, D. P. G. and G. P. G., aged 28 and 67, remain in Zuera prison.

Data support the charges of criminal organization of the four detainees in this case, as defended at a press conference by the chief colonel of the Zaragoza Guardia Civil Command, José Antonio Mignorance, and Captain Rojas, of the Zaragoza Civil Guard Judicial Police Unit.

Both acknowledged that they feared for the life of the child in case the kidnapping had the ultimate goal of vicarious violence, that is, the use of violence against the children of a partner or ex-partner to harm the woman. Hence, in the words of Rojas, “the armed institute pulled out all the stops”, activating all the units and giving notice of what had happened to other police stations and even to the Policía Nacional. The result was that in less than 24 hours they managed to recover the child alive and arrest the perpetrators of the kidnapping, who were captured.

After the analysis of the information obtained in the investigation, the agents were able to determine that the father of the baby and the mother’s ex-partner (who separated in June) after learning where she was with the baby thanks to a publication on social networks, went to Zaragoza with the paternal grandfather on Tuesday, October 11th.

Despite the lack of hotel rooms due to the Fiestas del Pilar, they managed to find two different places where they spent the night before the kidnapping on Thursday 13th, in the parking lot of the monastery at 6:44pm.

The Guardia Civil feared for the life of the minor in case the kidnapping had the ultimate goal of vicarious violence, that is, the use of violence on the children of a partner or ex-partner to harm the woman.

From there they fled towards the Community of Madrid always avoiding main roads  so that the license plate number would not be identified by the cameras of the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT).

On Thursday, October 13th, once the mother and baby were located, they violently kidnapped the child and fled the scene in a vehicle owned by the parent, to the town of Parla in Madrid. There they stayed at the home of the trusted friend, who would have provided not only the house, but also all the necessary infrastructure to hide the perpetrators for an undetermined period of time that would allow them to establish an alibi.

They even provided a car, a green Volkswagen Tuareg, and a garage to park the car used in the execution of the kidnapping to evade detection. In fact, according to this newspaper, the vehicle has not yet been found by the Guardia Civil.

The plan was so elaborate that even a mobile phone was purchased to use exclusively when talking about the child. All this with the aim of hiding the baby and avoid being located by the State Security Forces and Corps. “This friend would also be in charge of acquiring what was necessary for the care of the child while the father and the baby were hidden in their home,” said Captain Rojas.

The paternal grandmother would be in charge of providing financial support for the care of the baby, as well as the person who informed a lawyer of what was happening, who, in addition to being aware of the intentions of these people, would have been advising on how to carry out the kidnapping of the child and how to make everything appear legal, as well as on how to evade justice.

Lawyer in Madrid

This lawyer, from the Madrid Bar Association, when informed by the family of the need to take the baby to a doctor, advised them not to do so, since this could mean more problems for the parent. The child suffered bruises and trauma as a result of the aggressiveness used to snatch him from the arms of his mother, who was also beaten and even kicked. All this despite the fact that she is six months pregnant.

Meanwhile, a brother of the baby’s father, in addition to advising on the movements to follow to avoid detection, was going to be in charge of editing and manipulating the images of the video recorded recorded by the grandfather during the kidnapping with the aim, according to the Guardia Civil, of “making it look like the child’s mother was the person who had put on a show after having regretted leaving the child with the father”.

In parallel to this arrest, the Court of First Instance and Investigation number 1 of Calatayud deferred to the specialized Court of Violence against Women on Ibiza.

As reported by El Periódico de Aragón and Diario de Ibiza, the mother reported him for threats, coercion and abuse. As she recounted, the detainee sent WhatsApp messages to friends and relatives of the ex-partner in which he lashed out against the woman. He also presented evidence on the geolocation of the mother’s cell phone. He would have managed to do so, allegedly, thanks to a phishing message similar to the scams carried out with banking entities. In this way he was able to infect her phone.

Kidnapping attempt in a street on Ibiza

But the violence suffered by this woman did not stop there, according to the complaint. On August 17th she was involved in a motorcycle chase and on August 19th the attempted parental kidnapping in a street on the island.

After the investigation four people have been arrested. The crimes they are charged with are the following: the father, main perpetrator of the crime, an alleged crime of belonging to a criminal group, parental abduction of a minor, gender violence and felony injury. To the grandfather, main perpetrator of the crime, a crime of belonging to a criminal group, parental abduction of a minor and serious injury.

To the grandmother and the family friend, a crime of belonging to a criminal group and parental abduction of a minor.
