Government issues alert to rent payers: Significant changes ahead

In a general context of rising house rents, the government has planned a series of measures aimed at making this monthly expense less difficult.

Specifically, it establishes a maximum 2% increase in lease contract reviews until the end of the year and has been obligated to to extend those leases that expired before June 30the landlord could extend the lease for another six months, provided that the tenant so requested, except when the landlord needed the property for his own, his relatives’ or his spouse’s accommodation.

At the same time, those tenants with lower incomes and a maximum monthly rent of 600 euros may qualify for financial assistance if they meet a series of economic requirements. The subsidies are managed through the autonomous regions and their details are shown in this link.

The State Housing Plan 2022-2025 only provides for rental subsidies for habitual and permanent housing and for tenants with annual incomes up to 3 times the IPREM, 4 times the IPREM for large families and people with disabilities and 5 times the IPREM for special large family and people with different degrees of disability.
