This edition will feature performances by King Sapo, Alber Solo & The Firebirdblues, Uncle Sal and Cotton Cactus
The rock festival will feature four groups at the outdoor venue: Madrid bands King Sapo and Alber Solo & The Firebirdblues and will be joined by the Ibizencan band Uncle Sal and Cotton Cactus. During the day, attendees will be able to enjoy several food trucks and local dj Betterman will liven up the moments between concerts with his mixer.
The music will continue the following Sunday from noon onwards, with the second edition of the Sant Josep is Music Festivalwhich has a very diverse line-up that will be announced soon.
The Rock Island starts at 12 noon with Betterman Dj, who will be followed by the Cotton Cactus (13 hours.), Alber Solo & The Firebirdblues (15 hours.), Uncle Sal (17 hours.) and the headliners, King Sapo (19 hours). This American-style rock party is organized jointly by the City Council of Sant Josep and the cultural association Great River Road, with the collaboration of Can Jordi Blues Station, Ibiza 5 Sentidos, Joan F. Ribas Estudio de Fotografía, Pinturas Real and Colores de Bes.
Cotton Cactus: blues, country and bluegrass from Ibiza
Cotton Cactus is a recently created Ibizan group, with a wide repertoire of blues, rock, country and bluegrass covers. It is formed by Silvia San (acoustic guitar and vocals), José David Cruz (harmonica and electric guitar), Dennis Herman (dobro), Sara Arribas (bass) and P. J. González (drums).
Alber Solo & The Firebirdblues, the rock evolution of Chicago blues
Alber Solo is a guitarist, composer and singer born in l’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) and resident in Madrid. He has shared the stage with such well-known names as New York Chorros, Imperial State Electric, Carlton Jumel Smith, J. P. Bimeni & The Black Belts, Gisele Jackson and The Shu Shu’s Trio or Kyla Brox, among others.
He is currently touring with his band, The Firebirdblues, with whom he has just released the album ‘Waiting for the sun to go down’.
The guitarist will be performing in Caló de s’Oli on Saturday at 3 pm.
Uncle Sal: the most renowned American rock band from Ibiza
The Ibizan band Uncle Salcreated in 2011, stands out for the energy it transmits from the stage and will be broadcasting on Saturday at 17 hours in the auditorium of Sant Josep.
The band has released four albums: ‘Little Cabin Music’ (2015), ‘You Ain’t No Bluesman’ (2017), ‘The American Dream’ (2019) and ‘Darken My Door’ (2021), with which they have won the Gravelroad76 award for best album of the year for ‘Little Cabin Music’ and ‘The American Dream’. In addition, he has participated in festivals and concerts around Spain.
It is formed by singer Soulman Sal (guitar and vocals), Ferran Nogués (guitar), Francis Fastfingers (bass) and Artimus Gabe (drums), with the recent incorporation of Hammond organist Cris Krivoruchko.
King Sapo: ‘grunge and roll’ selected to the Latin Grammys
King Sapo, who will close the festival, is a rock band with its own label, born in Madrid, that updates the sounds of the 70’s and 90’s in a style that they themselves define as grunge and roll. The band is formed by Jesús Trujillo (vocals), Andrés Duende (guitar), José Alberto Solís (bass) and Ramiro Unceta (drums).
The group was shortlisted for its first album to two categories to the 2019 Latin Grammys. It stands out for its live performances, both electric and acoustic, and the experience of its members, who have played in bands like Eldorado, SCR, Última Experiencia or Wyoming y Los Insolventesamong others.
