Firefighters from Ibiza spend 6 difficult hours rescuing 2 people from cliffs

Eight personnel including firefighters worked in a very complicated rescue in the early hours of the morning

A day at the beach turned into a nightmare for two men living on Ibiza who, while on a short hike along the cliffs of Cala Aubarca (Sant Antoni), took the wrong path and ended up in an area with very complicated access and full of brambles in which they were trapped when night fell.

As the Parque Insular de Bomberos explained, at 10:30pm on Monday a rescue service was iniciated after the call from the crew of a boat that was spending the night in front of the cove and that they could see two people on the mountain who were asking for help by waving their arms.

Firefighters describe the complicated rescue

The two men had gone to the cove to spend a day at the beach and decided to take a walk on the mountain, wearing flip-flops and without cell phones because they left them with their towels. At one point during the excursion they took a path that ended up taking them to an area with ‘terrible’ access and full of brambles, according to the words of one of the firefighters who participated in the rescue.

When the troops arrived (eight in total between firefighters, Canine Unit and Vertical Rescue Group) they were divided into three groups to try to find the men. It was very “complicated” because they had no location of where they were or if they had moved since the boat gave the warning. They found them at around two in the morning, in good health but with a multitude of scratches caused by brambles.
