Firefighters from the Ibiza Island Park last night put out a fire in the heart of Dalt Vila. The fire was located in the mechanism room of the Portal de ses Taules, where, according to what has been explained, several homeless people live and there had accumulated a large amount of clothes, various utensils and old wood.
The flames started around midnight, when the firefighters received a call alerting that fire was seen at the entrance to the walled city World Heritage Site from the Marina district, in front of the Mercat Vell.
They went there three firefighters and a corporal with a heavy urban pumpwho worked for an hour and a half to extinguish the fire.
The flames were brought under control quickly and only affected the door of the room. At the time of the fire there was no one inside the room.
It is unknown what could have caused the fire.
