Electricity consumption reached 5.99 million megawatt hours (MWh) last year in the Balearic Islands as a whole, representing an increase of 10.3% over 2021. On Ibiza, consumption rose by 12.2% more than the previous year.

Compared to 2019, the year before the pandemic, electricity demand in 2022 was 0.8% lower, Endesa reported on Monday.

On Mallorca, electricity consumption last year reached 4.49 million MWh, 10.2 % more than in 2021; on Ibiza it reached 942,329 MWh, 12.2 % more; 490,724 MWh on Menorca, with a growth of 8.4 %, and on Formentera there was an annual demand of 65,505 MWh, 6.7 % more.

In December, the day with the highest demand in the islands as a whole was on the 1st, with 761.7 MWh, 10.9 % below the maximum of the last month of 2021.
