The operation against drug trafficking in the neighborhood of sa Penya in Ibiza town, under the wall declared World Heritage Site, has ended with eleven detainees, according to a note from the Policía Nacional. The operation began early on Monday and has involved more than twenty agents, who carried out searches in homes in Calles Fosc and Vista Alegre of the neighborhood.

According to the statement, in the course of the investigation eleven people have been arrested, all Spanish except one of Polish origin. In addition, the police indicate that seven of them have a previous record for similar offenses. The Vila Policía Nacional agents have seized more than a kilo of cocaine, 25 grams of heroin, a large knife and precision scales.

“The police presence in the neighborhood of sa Penya detected a house as the main point of sale for drugs where in addition to distributing drugs, drug addicts were allowed to consume inside, thus constituting a drug house”, details the note.

The Police tells that, after several investigations around the point of sale, it was observed that many people were working next to the house to watch and perform security tasks. The note also indicates that, given that in these points of sale the gangs that run them usually only have the amount of drugs necessary to cope with the daily demand, the agents went deeper to determine the location being used as a warehouse.

The police detected that the suspects had another house that they used as a warehouse, also in the neighborhood of sa Penya.

The statement says that, when all the information was gathered, both houses were searched and it was in the latter where they found all the drugs which were seized.
