Access control measures implemented at Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta

On Monday, the regular public transportation line to Cala Salada will also be available

The Sant Antoni Town Council explains in a press release that this Friday the service of information, surveillance and control of road access to the beaches of Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta has begun, “to ensure the proper functioning of traffic and safety in access and capacity to the beach area during the tourist season,” details the consistory.

The note tells that the service has started on a daily basis with a schedule of 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m, “advancing its implementation, since it previously started daily from June 1 and last year it was advanced fifteen days only on weekends due to the influx of users,” says the City Council.

The new contract for the road access control service establishes several improvements such as the extension of the time slot, which is increased by an hour and a half from 10 am to 4 pm to 9.30 am to 5 pm, subject to adaptations according to the needs and fluctuations of users. “The contract, with a duration of two years plus two extendable, also increases the duration of the service, scheduled from May 1 to October 15, as well as human resources with three access controllers plus an additional person,” details the statement.

From the consistory also ensure that another of the improvements implemented with the new tender, which has a cost of 113,176.02 euros per year (VAT included), is the economic contribution to elements of signage and furniture for the access control area

“The control system, which is installed coinciding with the beginning of the beach season, consists of the installation of a surveillance point with barrier at the road access crossing, and is established for safety reasons regarding access, emergency services passage and capacity in the beach area, in addition to being an enclave classified as extremely high risk as far as forest fires are concerned. In this way, access is controlled and the passage of private vehicles is allowed only to complete the parking spaces provided in the area,” the note points out.

Access to the beach is allowed for vehicles of neighbors or workers in the area, people with reduced mobility, as well as the passage of two-wheeled vehicles, such as motorcycles or bicycles, cabs and people accessing on foot.

As a complement to this service, the City Council indicates that it will also be enabled next Monday the regular public transport line to Cala Salada (L34) implemented by the Consell de Ibiza with the aim of promoting alternative modes of mobility access and reduce the access of private vehicles. The line operates from Monday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., every half hour, making the route that connects the Sant Antoni Bus Station with the Can Coix and Cala Salada parking lot.
