Concert by the legendary Jazz saxophonist Dick Oatts in Ibiza

Oatts plays this Thursday with the Dutch band The Dam Jawn at the Auditori Caló de s'Oli

The Auditori Caló de s’Oli in Cala de Bou welcomes the prestigious Dutch jazz band The Dam Jawn, who will perform for the first time on the island, accompanied by the great saxophonist Dick Oatts, a musician and composer from New York born in 1953, who has performed and recorded with musicians such as Joe Henderson, Jerry Bergonzi, Joe Williams, Sarah Vaughan and even the great lady of jazz, Ella Fitzgerald, this Thursday, 18th May at 8 pm and with free admission. He has also taught at the Manhattan School of Music and has been artist-in-residence at the Amsterdam Conservatory, but since 2006 he has been a professor at the prestigious Boyer College of Music and Dance, Temple University in Philadelphia.

The Dam Jawn & Dick Oatts are touring Europe, presenting their debut album in which precisely the American saxophonist has collaborated. The Dutch group, on the other hand, is made up of five young musicians. All of them were formed as a group through a shared experience in the United States. They lived and studied together in Philadelphia, where they met Oatts and began to compose and arrange their music as a band.

The members of this formation are Martin Diaz (alto saxophone), Frank Groenendijk (tenor saxophone), Joan Fort (guitar), Philip Lewin (double bass) and Nitin Parree (drums). Although all five members live and are active in Amsterdam, the quintet is very international. Diaz and Fort are Catalans, Lewin is from Stuttgart (Germany) and Parree and Groenendijk are Dutch. After their performance at the Auditori Caló de s’Oli they will perform in Barcelona, at the famous jazz club Jamboree.
