Committee studies 34 proposals for Ibiza’s VPOs and another 11 for Formentera

The architectural quality of the new developments, as well as how the projects respond to the housing and climate urgency, will be evaluated by the jury

The jury for the international competition for ideas for the construction of more than a hundred public homes in the Pitiusas and Menorca was convened yesterday, and the deliberations have already begun.

As reported by the Ministry of Mobility and Housing, 38 homes will be built in Es Castell, Menorca, 52 in the Avenida de Isidor Macabich of Ibiza and 17 VPP in San Ferran, Formentera.

The jury sessions to analyse and evaluate the 123 proposals that have been submitted to the first phase of the competition began yesterday. Of these, 45 are competing for the Menorca project, 34 for the Ibiza project and 44 for the Formentera project. In today’s session, a maximum of 20% of the projects will be selected to go on to the second phase, from which the three winning proposals will be chosen.

The conseller for Mobility and Housing, Josep Marí, accompanied by Ibavi manager Cris Ballester, the mayor of Ibiza, Rafel Ruiz, and the vice-president of Formentera Council, Ana Juan, thanked Ibavi yesterday for its institutional collaboration in providing the land that will enable the construction of more than 100 new homes. He stressed that Ibavi is responding to housing needs with buildings of the highest architectural and environmental quality.
