The night of nightclub closure parties on Ibiza have ended up generating intermittent power cuts in a wide area of Platja d’en Bossa.
Nightclubs celebrate the end of the season
On Saturday, during the season closing celebration of Ushuaïa Ibiza, confetti cannons were used to launch paper or plastic streamers into the air, with such bad luck that many of them ended up in a high voltage power line in the vicinity of the club. This situation generated intermittent power cuts in the area from 9pm until approximately three or four in the morning, which affected all users who depended on that power point, including the Hï Ibiza nightclub, which began its closing after of Ushuaïa at midnight.
The City Council of Sant Josep has confirmed that the Policía Local went to the area of Platja d’en Bossa after being warned of the power cuts and that in a neighboring street hundreds of 5 centimeter wide and 10 meter long streamers were piled up on the road, therefore, the agents, in order to preserve the safety of the drivers, cut the street until they were cleaned up and sealed the power pole while waiting for Gesa’s technicians to arrive to solve the blackouts.
The streamers that had piled up on the high voltage power pole (as seen in the accompanying image) were the ones that caused sparks to start jumping and that both establishments and homes experienced intermittent power supply cuts.
