Discover Balearic Islands Day events in Ibiza

The ibiza’s Vara de Rey promenade will concentrate the institutional acts of the march 1st, Day of the Balearic Islands, which will include a craft show, parade of carts and Menorcan dressage, among other activities open to the public. Thus, from 10 am to 2 pm you can enjoy an exhibition of crafts, with workshops, games, traditional children’s songs and giant wooden games. At 11 am the institutional act will take place with a parade of carts, ballada, and institutional speech, followed by a Menorcan dressage show and tasting of local products.

At the sports level, also on March 1 at the Hippodrome de San Rafel there will be a Chess Tournament, starting at 10:30 am, Trophy Trot, at 16 hours and Menorcan dressage show, at 18.30 hours. In the sports center of his Pedrera, in Sant Antoni, from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm there will be a Motorcycling Party.

The Councilor of Presidency explained that the program will begin days before the Balearic Day, “with cultural activities aimed at enhancing our cultural and historical heritage”, with a visit to the necropolis of Puig des Molins on Tuesday, February 27 at 12 noon, a visit to the exhibition of the Archaeological Museum on Wednesday, February 28 at 12 noon and a visit to its conservation and restoration laboratory on Thursday, February 29 at 12 noon.

Already on saturday, March 2 the program continues at the Sant Rafel racecourse with a jumping competition at 9.30 am and a herding demonstration at 4 pm. In Sant Josep there will be motocross from 10 am to 3 pm.

The sunday, March 3 there will be a concert by Maria Florit in the Plaza of Spain in Sant Joan, at 12.30 pm and already on Thursday March 7 and Saturday March 9, in Sant Josep and in the Auditorium of Cas Serres there will be an exhibition of short films and ‘Illes per la cançó’.

Losa explained that the will of the Consell is to decentralize the events of this day: “It is a joy to do it this year in Ibiza, a city that is congratulated for this 25th anniversary and we join them with this ambitious program. The councilor invited everyone to participate in the events prepared and to make this celebration “a great party”.

For his part, Councilman Francisco Torres remarked that “it is a pride for the City Council of Eivisssa to host these celebrations and collaborate in its organization, in a year as special as this”, and encouraged all citizens of other municipalities to “come down to Vila, to join in a celebration of all that unites us.”

A total of 258 activities on the four islands

The Day of the Balearic Islands, which is commemorated on March 1, includes a program of 258 activities to be held from February 29 to March 3 on the four islands. This year’s slogan is ‘Som el que estimam-Estimam el que som’. Specifically, 258 children’s, sports, participatory, gastronomic and cultural activities will be held, of which 185 will take place in Mallorca (144 in Palma and 43 in the part forana), 45 in Menorca, 20 in Ibiza and five in Formentera. The budget of the Govern for the organization of the Day of the Balearic Islands has been 519,000 euros, maintaining the agreements with the councils of Menorca and Ibiza, which have received 30,000 euros each, and Formentera, with 12,000 euros, so that they can organize those activities they consider most appropriate.
