Prison sentence sought for heads of Ibiza cannabis association after price card discovery

The Public Prosecutor’s Office asks for four and a half years in prison for the heads of a cannabis association in Ibiza who are accused of using the association’s premises to sell drugs. According to the Prosecutor’s statement, the two Spanish defendants set up this group, baptized as Asociación de amigos para la botánica, estudio y cultivo de plantas y flores[Association of friends for botany, study and cultivation of plants and flowers] Mellow Yellow “on an undetermined date” and from that time until December 19, 2019, when the search and closure of the premises took place, “the defendants sold drugs and narcotic substances to their associates.”

The headquarters of the association was located in Sant Josep while the premises where these sales allegedly took place was at number 7 of Mallorca Street, in Vila. In several searches, both at the home of one of the accused and at the premises of the association in Vila and at the headquarters of the group, various types of drugs were seized: 3,094 grams of MDMA with a purity between 42.1% and 78.24% (‘128.21 on the illicit market); 1.49 grams of methylphenidate /22.75); almost a kilo and a half – “weight of leaves and flowers, discarding the rest of the plant and the prepared dry substance”, the document states- of cannabis sativa grass type with a THC between 1.46% and 29.32% (7,046.47 euros of approximate value in the illicit market) and another 214.459 of cannabis sativa resin type of a purity of between 3.43% and 89.45% (2,867.31€). Drugs, all these “that the defendants were preparing to sell to third parties,” says the prosecution in its brief prior to the trial, which will take place on Wednesday at half past nine in the morning at the Provincial Court.

Letters with the prices of the substances

Also, in the registry, were found “precision scales, letters with prices for narcotic substances and notebooks with various notes” as well as about 3,100 euros “money from the sale of this substance to members”.

The head of the association has been arrested on several occasions by the National Police of Ibiza. In October 2019, the first search and closure of the premises took place, which reopened a few days later, according to neighbors detailed to the police, as it caused “nuisance and problems” arising from the “illicit activity” that was carried out inside the premises.

The last of the searches took place on December 19, 2021 at the premises of the association, with the consent of one of the defendants, and in it, the agents seized almost a kilo of cannabis sativa type hierna “with a THC between 9.5% and 27%” that would have been sold “on the illicit market” for approximately 4.784.59 euros and 231.9 grams of this same substance in the form of resin with a purity between 4.5% and 90.6%” and a value of more than 3,100 euros as well as 833 euros “from the sale of this substance to partners”.

For the two the Prosecutor’s Office requests a prison sentence of four and a half years and a fine of 20,000 as well as the payment of the costs and the dissolution of the cannabis association.
