British tourist arrested for assaulting partner in presence of young son

Man threw cot and TV off hotel balcony

The Local Police of Sant Josep arrested a British tourist in the early hours of Monday morning for assaulting his partner, in the presence of their young son, in the hotel where they were staying. The woman fled with her child from the room after her partner pushed her, as reported by the Local Police of Sant Josep through their social networks. The agents remind that victims of gender violence can report this type of situation by calling 112. The 016 telephone number is available 24 hours a day for victims of gender violence and does not leave a mark on the bill, although the call must be deleted from the mobile phone list.

“The detainee and the victim are of British nationality, aged 37 and 40 years, respectively. Proceedings have been opened for gender violence and damage to property,” said City Hall sources. Fortunately, neither the woman nor her son have injuries.

The receptionist of a hotel in Cala de Bou called the police this Monday at one o’clock in the morning because a tourist was causing damage to his room. When the agents arrived, the room was smashed and the subject had thrown the television and the crib over the balcony. “The man pushed the woman, who ended up on the floor. She had the brave reaction of grabbing her minor child and leaving the room to call for help,” the Local Police indicate on their social networks.

The aggressor is now in the brig.

Victims of male violence and their environment can ask for help in different active resources every day of the week and 24 hours a day: telephone 016, email 016-online@igualdad.gob.es and WhatsApp channel on the number 600 000 016.

In an emergency situation you can call 112 or the emergency numbers of the National Police (091) and the Civil Guard (062) and, if it is not possible to make that call, in case of danger there is also the option of activating the ALERTCOPS application, which sends an alert signal to the Police with geolocation.
