British icon Ray Stevenson, renowned ‘King Arthur’ actor and Ibiza enthusiast, passes away

The actor, who starred in the movie 'Thor', has died at the age of 58

The British actor Ray Stevenson, who starred in films such as ‘King Arthur’, ‘Thor’ and the first ‘Punisher’ to be made into a film, died today, according to Variety. The actor, a loyal lover of Ibiza, as he said in an interview with this newspaper, has died at the age of 58.

“I have traveled to many places in the world, but there is no other like this, it is not Costa Rica or Mexico, Sri Lanka, nor does it have anything to do with Mallorca or even Formentera. Ibiza has a quality, if you invest your time in discovering it, it captivates you”, declared the actor just one year ago to Diario de Ibiza.

Stevenson was married to the renowned actress, Ruth Gemmell who now triumphs with ‘Queen Charlotte and previously played the same character in Violet Bridgerton in the first two seasons of the series ‘Bridgerton’ on Netflix.

Stevenson, of Irish origin, began her professional career from television e the 1990s, and was just waiting to enjoy the success of her participation in the latest and long-awaited series of the saga of Star Wars ‘Ahsokawhich will be released in the coming months.

 

His most emblematic role was played in the film starring Clive Owen ‘King Arthur’where he played the unforgettable character of Dagonet, a burly, brassy knight of the round table who gives his life for his companions when they are pursued by northern barbarians.

In 2008, Stevenson played Frank Castle in the film marvel’s ‘Punisher: War Zone’. He also participated in ‘Divergent’ and in the Thor trilogy, where he shone in his last film, ‘Thor: Ragnarok’.
