Books and roses revive on the streets of Ibiza this Sunday

Several dozen authors will sign this year's new publications

The Vara de Rey de Vila promenade will once again celebrate this Sunday the Sant Jordi’s Day in a big way, from ten o’clock in the morning, with 40 stands of bookstores, publishers, florists, organizations and associations, as many writers signing new publications and other activities around the feast of the book.

During the day, different activities have been organized such as the Library in the street, from 11 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm, and a storytelling by David i Monma at 5 pm. For its part, the Colla de Vila will offer at noon an exhibition of ball pagès to also give prominence to the island traditions in this special day.

The bookstores participating this year are Mediterrània, Barco de Papel, Hipérbole and Sa Cultural. In addition, the publishers of the Instituto d’Estudis Eivissencs (IEE), Edicions Aïllades, Ibiza Editions, Balàfia Postals – Neus Escandell and Miquel Costa editor, now directed by Vicent Marí, will be on the Paseo de s’Alamera. Also present will be different entities and institutions such as the Conciència Foundation, the Association Against Cancer, the Apima Sa Joveria, Esquerra Republicana, PhysiRehab Kineterapy or the Kadampa Vajrayama Meditation Center, among others. As for the florists, they will be located on the promenade, Es Detall and Es Baladre.

The Councillor for Culture, Pep Tur, highlights the great participation this year “with significant numbers and an occupation of the promenade with all the publishers, a very large number of writers who will sign their copies and workshops for children.” In addition, “Sunday is a good day for the family to come and everyone can share this festival that recovers normality after these years we have lived. It is a very good moment for our culture. We have a lot of novelties published on our island and I think it’s a great time for both local publishers and to enjoy the written word as humanity has always done,” said Tur.
