The best plans for the weekend in Ibiza and Formentera

Ibiza and Formentera celebrate the arrival of summer with fire and parties

The start of summer is celebrated in Ibiza and Formentera with an extensive programme spread all over the island, with activities based on tradition and fire, but also including music, macaroon tastings and a variety of shows. In other words, a lot of partying for the most magical night of the year, the Nit de Sant Joan, on the 23rd of June.

But there are also many other things to highlight on the agenda these days, such as the Children’s Theater Festival, Festínwhich celebrates its first three days this weekend in Sant Jordi.

In the music section it is worth mentioning the two festivals that are held on Saturday at a very short distance: the Rock Island Festival with American roots music at the Caló de s’Oli in Cala de Bou, and the Molí Rocks Festivalcloser to punk and metal, in sa Punta des Molí de Sant Antoni.

Also Charles Sadndesswho revisits the island as part of the Dorado Live Shows series, at the Venice Bay space in Cala de Bou this Thursday; or Imaràntiawho present their new album, ‘RetrUc’ in Ibiza, this Saturday at the Teatro España in Santa Eulària.

The tradition has several important dates, especially the big day of the festival of Sant Joansaturday, with guaranteed fun until well into the early hours of the morning, but also with the Folk Festival of Santa Gertrudis on Saturday, or the Cantada pagesa de Formenteraon Sunday at the Jardí de ses eres de Sant Francesc.

And there are many more things to do these days:
