Radio 1 Dance Weekend BBC search to the future dj through a contest whose prize will be to perform at an event to be held by the British radio station in Ibiza this summer.
The aim of the contest is to discover up-and-coming artists producing their own music in the UK and who have not had wide exposure to date. Therefore, participants must not have previously performed in a “ ibiza superclub “as dictated by the rules of the contest.
Contestants must be 18 years old or older at the registration deadline, next Thursday, June 6. In addition, it is a requirement to have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom. Foreign entries will not be considered, according to the BBC Music Introducing website.
The inscriptions open this Thursday. To enter, a track must be uploaded to BBC Introducing Uploader. “The track must be a track that you would play in your set to get the crowd going and represent you at your best as a DJ and producer,” the BBC contest rules explain. “It must be an original composition for BBC Introducing Uploader.” Only one entry per artist is allowed.
The BBC stresses that tracks must not contain any defamatory, offensive or otherwise inappropriate language or material and must be suitable for broadcast by the broadcaster in accordance with its guidelines.
A final round of 24 tracks will be analyzed by a panel of dj’s, producers and staff from Radio 1’s music team, from which two will be selected. The winners will have to answer several questions.
Trip to Ibiza
The chosen dj’s will have the opportunity to perform at the Radio 1’s Dance Weekend in Ibizawhich will be on Friday, August 2, 2024. The broadcaster will pay for the flight and accommodation. Winners will be paid standard BBC/Musician Union rates for the performance to be broadcast. In addition, the performance may be shared on BBC channels after the broadcast to promote the talent search event.
