From avant-garde to flamenco this weekend at the Ibiza Dance Season

This weekend the Cas Serres Auditorium is hosting two new shows as part of the Temporada de Dansa del Consell de Ibiza, ‘Tra, Tra, Tra: Tradició, Transmissió, Traïció’, on Friday at 8 pm, and ‘El Cuaderno’, on Sunday at the same time.

Contemporary and traditional dance come together in the show ‘Tra, Tra, Tra: Tradició, Transmissió, Traïció’performed by the artist and dance teacher for more than 25 years Toni Jodar, which shows the shared influences between contemporary and traditional dance and how they complement and communicate. This performance is aimed at children over 10 years old, has been written and directed by Helena Tornero and Bàrbara Raubert, the photography and video are made by Tristán Pérez-Martín and the management and executive production is in charge of Beatriu Daniel, who promotes this work through the Explica Dansa project aimed at the training of the public.

tra, Tra, Tra: Tradició, Transmissió, Traïció’ shows a journey through the history and evolution of dance, with the different formats that coexist in traditional dance and does it from three different aspects that give it its name: tradition, transmission, through the workshop, and scenic betrayal.

‘The Notebook’

For its part, ‘El cuaderno’, by the company Estévez/Paños, choreographed, directed and performed by Rafael Estévez and Valeriano Paños, has as its starting point one of the most important milestones in the history of dance in general and Spanish in particular, the creation of the ballet ‘Le Tricorne’, since it means the confluence of the Russian impresario Sergei Diaghilev and the dancer and choreographer Léonide Massine with the dancer Félix Fernández García, a very fruitful encounter between Spanish dances and flamenco dance with the classical technique and the artistic avant-garde.

“We put dance to that notebook that belonged to the dancer and in which he wrote down the names of steps and moves of Spanish dance and flamenco dance that he learned from the dancer… the notebook in which he wrote down the months of the year, the cardinal points, the parts of the body, some choreographic schemes and some other indication or reflection”, says the dossier of the work.

These works are framed in the program of the sixth Dance Season of Ibizain total there are nine shows designed for all audiences in a cycle that runs until October 8.
