The Association of DJ’s and Producers of Ibiza and Formentera opens to society with a series of talks

The Association of DJs and Producers of Eivissa and Formentera presents the I Music Industry Sessions by Dipef, a series of talks on the music industry that will address “topics of interest to the DJ and producer profession that will be given by industry professionals”.

The organization has planned a total of 10 sessions between January 11 and March 14on Thursdays at 6.30 p.m. in the hotel The Standard Ibiza (Vara de Rey de Ibiza) with free entrance.

The association explains that these talks on the music industry are “aimed at sharing information and improving the training of future professional djs of the Pitiusas”.

As for the program, it will open on january 11 with the talk ‘The Ibiza lived’, by Pepe Roselló. “The founder of the unforgettable Space Ibiza nightclub and current president of the association Noches de Ibiza will share his experience and vision from his position as one of the absolute players in the music entertainment industry on the island since the 1960s.” “Witness of the evolution of the sector and architect of one of the most successful musical projects of all time”, adds the organization, “Pepe Roselló is a key figure to know where we come from and where we are going”.

The january 18 the talk ‘Hivern…. dj: Produce!’. As it indicates, it will deal with how seasonality affects this sector. “During the autumn and winter months,” reminds the organization, “many music venues close and the demand for hiring is significantly reduced. However, this apparent handicap can become an opportunity for a fundamental task in the career of any professional dj today as it is to produce”. Javier FerrercEO of Metrica Recording Studio, will give “some useful and interesting guidelines on how to do it”.

The january 25 it will be dj’s turn Pippi y Joan Ribaswho will be “the speakers” of the third session of the I Music Industry Sessions by Dipef, “Veteran and enthusiastic dj’s, they have spent a lifetime dedicated to put a soundtrack to the island of Ibiza.

For the february 1the problems of local djs in the face of the growing relevance of their international colleagues will be discussed. “The reality of cases such as Anna Tur y Valentín Huedo shows that it may be an odyssey, but it is by no means a chimera”. Both will explain their experiences in this talk.

The next appointment will be on february 8and its theme will be Ibiza “as a place of inspiration”. This session will be “choral” and “we will talk about art, creation, inspiration and muses”.

Record labels, agencies, leisure and culture…

A week later, the february 15(still at The Standart hotel), the acronym A&R (Artists & Repertoire), “the division of a record label responsible for discovering new talent and managing the artistic development of the company’s artists”, will be explained. Jessica Capazartistic director of Pacha Ibiza, and Pablo del Campomanager and artist agent, responsible for the events and management agency Grupo Mambo, will speak about “what an A&R looks for in a dj for an event, club or establishment”.

The universe of artist booking music agencies is the theme of the seventh session of the I Music Industry Sessions by Dipef. The february 15the dj Oliver e Igor Marijuán, will speak on this topic. They will be joined by Angie Onescu, dj and booker of Nomad Suntribe, the company behind the promoters WooMooN and Storytellers.

The february 29 will analyze the cohabitation between leisure and culture, which “make up a winning formula in Ibiza, understanding culture as the set of ways of life and customs, knowledge and degree of artistic, scientific or industrial development in an era or social group”. José Luis Benítez, spokesman for the Leisure Association of Ibizawill be in charge on this occasion of “breaking clichés and finding new readings for a word that is deeply rooted in the local vocabulary and needs to be revised”.

The march 7 it’s the turn of music journalism. Teo Molina, founder and director of Fiesta & Bullshit magazine, and Christian Len, what role does music journalism play in the era of the social media empire and the dizzying consumption of digital content? Does the specialized press make music criticism or does complacency reign as a consequence of dependence on a declining advertising investment? Why are there so few successful cases of specialized publications in Spain? They will try to answer these questions.

The Standart will host the last talk on March 14. Christian Len and Guadalupe Revueltajournalist and founder of Ladypress, an agency specialized in public relations and media consulting, will “give some guidelines” on “how to build an attractive brand profile for bookers, labels, promoters and media, and how to connect with audiences”.
